Roberto Cristofoli – photography
Already from an early age, Roberto Cristofoli wanted to “capture images”. The creative use of lines, composition and perspective has come in playfully but it took a few years for that. Whether it is portraits, landscapes, abstract or architecture, no subject is a favourite. Perhaps it is just the memories around the images that he wants to take with him and not so much the subject. Perhaps they will someday give an answer whether everything is worth it.
For Cristofoli, two quotes are in line with each other. They highlight the two sides of the image, namely that of the photographer and that of the viewer: “I don’t see things as they are, I see them as I am. But what you see depends on how you look.” (Henri Tomlinson & John Lubbock)
Rinus Pennings – photography
Photography is his first love. Trained as a furniture maker, he is concrete and quite critical of the technical quality of his photos. They are often recordings of fragments of decline, of the sea, the beach, trees or water. This can lead to ‘flat pictures’. The challenge is to offer – without sacrificing the technique – the viewer what to guess, to imagine. Just take a moment to think about the image. Taking the time to look beyond the picture: do I see what I see? What am I actually seeing?
Harrie Eijkemans – photography / sculpture
Harrie Eijkemans’ photos are not often shown at an exhibition. Yet they are closely related to the paintings and sculptures. He is interested in the power of the first sketch, although that seems to contradict the lengthy work process in sculpture. He wants to keep that also in photography. This is possible, for example, by working with movement, blur, composition, and merging images. The themes return in all disciplines, women, violins, horses. In poetry and jazz music, for example, the soul is between the lines, around the rhythm. He also looks for that in his paintings, photographs and sculptures.

Preparations in the Kunstkerkje in Velp: what a great space to exhibit and what an ambiance! Because of the architecture, it exudes a great atmosphere. Back in time where “old” and “new” meet. See you in September!
